We have found that by letting you select the exact slabs of Onyx for your project, you have the opportunity to add your own personal preferences and tastes to what will ultimately become your ideal Onyx countertop space. As far as we know, Carolina Granite is the only company in the area that offers this at no additional charge.

It’s not advisable to cut directly on Onyx countertops due to their softness and susceptibility to scratching. Using a cutting board will protect both your countertops and your knives, keeping the Onyx looking beautiful for longer.

It’s not recommended to place hot items directly on Onyx countertops as they can cause damage or discoloration. Use trivets or hot pads to protect the surface.

Yes. You can use your own sink if you’d like. It needs to be a true undermount sink. Or you can use one of the sinks we can provide.

Onyx is generally not recommended for outdoor use due to its sensitivity to UV light and weathering, which can cause fading and damage over time. It’s best suited for interior applications where its beauty can be preserved.

Yes, Onyx countertops can be damaged by impact, excessive weight, or exposure to acidic substances. Proper care and precautions can minimize these risks, preserving the beauty of the Onyx.

Onyx is a more delicate stone compared to granite or quartz, making it more prone to cracking if subjected to heavy weights or impacts. Care should be taken to avoid dropping heavy objects on the surface.

We do ask that an adult over the age of 18 be at home during the installation in case we have any questions.

Yes, sealing Onyx countertops is essential to protect them from staining and etching. Due to its porosity, Onyx should be sealed upon installation and regularly thereafter, depending on the amount of use and exposure to potentially staining substances.

Onyx is more porous than some other natural stones, making it susceptible to staining if not properly sealed and maintained. Spills should be wiped up promptly to prevent potential staining.

Yes. We work with a local bank that offers easy home improvement financing for things like Onyx countertops. If you are interested, we can connect you with our dedicated representative at the bank who will work with you.

We guarantee our work to be completed at a professional level by trained experts. Like every other stone countertop fabricator, we can not warranty the stone itself since it is a natural product.

Choosing the right Onyx color or pattern involves considering the lighting and overall color scheme of your space. Onyx comes in a wide range of colors, from deep blacks to whites, greens, and reds, often with dramatic veining. Since Onyx can vary significantly from slab to slab, it’s best to view and select the actual piece that will be used in your home to ensure it matches your aesthetic preferences.

Maintain Onyx countertops by cleaning them with a soft cloth and mild, pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals, and wipe up spills promptly to prevent staining. Regular sealing will also help protect the surface.

Carolina Granite utilizes modern technology to ensure your Onyx countertops are created perfectly. Our fabrication shop is also environmentally friendly as our machines are designed to “wet” cut and polish Onyx, which produces a better cut and less dust.

With proper care and maintenance, Onyx countertops can last for many years. However, their longevity can be impacted by their susceptibility to staining, etching, and cracking if not properly looked after.

In most cases, we complete the entire job of removing your old countertops and installing the new Onyx countertops all in the same day.

Onyx typically weighs around 20-30 pounds per square foot.

We only work with the industry standard, 3cm thick Onyx slabs.

Onyx can be a fantastic choice for bathroom countertops, where its stunning appearance can create a luxurious and spa-like atmosphere. The lower traffic and wear in bathrooms compared to kitchens make it a more suitable option for this space.

While Onyx is breathtakingly beautiful, its delicacy makes it less practical for high-traffic kitchen countertops. It’s best used in areas where it won’t be subjected to heavy wear and tear, or as a statement piece in a bar or island, paired with more durable materials in work-heavy areas.

We have always and will only ever work with the highest quality, premium grade Onyx.

We go out of our way to ensure our customers know that they’re very special to us, not only when we finish their Onyx countertop project but for many years beyond. We have many customers who frequently check in with us just to say hello — years after working with us. We value the local community and approach each client as if we are fostering not only a professional working relationship, but a lifelong friendship as well.

Onyx stands out for its stunning and unique beauty, with translucent qualities and striking color variations that can’t be found in any other stone. It creates a focal point in any room, especially when backlit to enhance its natural colors and intricate patterns. Onyx is perfect for adding a touch of luxury and sophistication to your space.

The price of Onyx countertops can vary significantly based on the rarity of the color, pattern complexity, and the slab’s origin. Unique and highly sought-after patterns or colors are generally more expensive due to their limited availability.

Choosing Onyx for your countertops means opting for unparalleled beauty and uniqueness. Its translucency and ability to be backlit can transform a space into something truly spectacular, making it ideal for those looking to create a statement piece in their home.

Onyx can have natural pits or fissures as part of its character. These features contribute to the stone’s natural beauty and uniqueness, although they can be filled during fabrication to create a smoother surface.

Possibly. Onyx countertops may require seams, especially in larger installations. Due to Onyx’s unique patterns and colors, our fabricators will carefully align seams to be as discreet as possible, but some visibility is inevitable.

Although we’re not licensed appraisers and every home is valued differently, we can say that Onyx countertops are a desirable feature for many homebuyers and can increase the value and appeal of your home in the eyes of a prospective buyer. Their durability, beauty, and luxury appeal make them an attractive upgrade in kitchens and bathrooms, potentially offering a good return on investment. We frequently work with customers who are preparing their home to be sold.
